‘Raped more than 50 times…’ British woman talks about ‘sexual trauma’ caused by Osho’s community

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh aka Osho was founded in 1970. It was for the western people who wanted to walk the spiritual path. Shree Rajneesh was a philosophy teacher before starting his spiritual movement in Pune. From the age of fourteen he believed in unlimited promiscuity, including partner swapping. In India he was given the title ‘Sex Guru’ because of his various meditation methods and thoughts on sexual freedom. He owns luxury cars in the US and is therefore called Rolls-Royce Guru there. However, a woman in Britain recently made shocking revelations against him.

54-year-old British woman talks about sexual trauma in Osho’s cult

A 54-year-old woman in Britain has spoken out about her horrific experience growing up as a minor in the sex cult of Indian mystic Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, also known as Osho. She was allegedly forced to endure sexual abuse in the name of free love. She talked about this in an interview with The Times. The lady’s name is Prem Sargam and she talked about the rampant sexual abuse that started when she was six in the ashram where she grew up.

Sargam revealed that her father left her and her mother and joined the sect’s ashram in Pune. He sought spiritual enlightenment as a sannyasin and therefore left. She was then also taken to the sect’s ashram and asked to change her name and wear orange clothes.

She was forced to believe in the philosophy that children are obstacles to parents’ sexual freedom. Osho’s movement believed that children should watch sex regularly and that when girls reach puberty, they should be guided by adult men on their sexual journey. She said the philosophy normalized pedophilia within the cult.

She revealed that she was allegedly involved in sexual activities at the age of seven and later turned to rape at the age of twelve. She remembered feeling the confusion and discomfort she felt as a child. Between the ages of 7 and 11, her friends were forced to have sex with adult men.

She added that the exploitation continued after she was sent to the Medina ashram in Suffolk and told she was going to boarding school. When she was twelve, she was sent to the US with her mother to an ashram in Oregon. Sargam revealed that she had been raped about 50 times by then. When she was 16, she understood what was going on.
