Fun fact: the first action thriller I ever saw in its entirety was Man on fire. I couldn’t have been more than eleven years old, and while I didn’t have the skills of a film critic at the time, I had seen enough to know that Denzel Washington was a master of his craft.

Today, with sixty films and two Academy Awards to his credit, I still consider Washington one of the greatest thriller actors of all time, thanks to his natural ability to add depth and nuance to his roles. Not to mention his ability to improvise and his calm approach to powerful characters. His most recent thrillers, such as The tragedy of Macbeth And The equalizer 3received critical acclaim and he shows no signs of slowing down, a testament to the longevity of his career.

While you’re talking to Entertainment tonight about future roles, the 68-year-old star said: “I’m about the challenges. At this point, like the character, I am in the yellow leaf of my career. Honestly, I’m looking for other things. So as far as acting goes, it will have to be extremely challenging for me to be interested.
