Liz Truss’ fake ‘underground transgender mafia’ quote goes viral

A satirical post falsely attributed to former British Prime Minister Liz Truss went viral on September 30.

The post, made by the Despite being satire, the post was viewed more than 2.5 million times and sparked widespread discussion online.

The viral post came shortly after Truss’ appearance at the Tory conference, where she spoke to Daily Telegraph columnist Tim Stanley. During the 45-minute interview, Truss discussed her views on the ‘woke establishment’, criticized the Equality Act and the Gender Recognition Act and suggested the Conservative Party would have performed better in the general election if she had remained in charge.

Truss also praised right-wing figures such as Argentine President Javier Milei, but made no mention of the “underground transgender mafia.” Although the quote was fabricated, many believed it was real because of Truss’ previous comments about “trans activists” in the civil service, which she had previously blamed for some of her political challenges.

The satirical post quickly became a topic of online humor, with users discussing the made-up “transgender underground mafia.”
