A Linn County man has pleaded guilty to soliciting sexual contact from a minor

A Linn County, Missouri man admitted Monday that he recorded himself having sexual contact with a minor. Russell Alan Pirkey, 54, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

Pirkey admitted using his cell phone to record himself having sexual contact with a 10-year-old girl. Authorities discovered Pirkey’s crime on April 8, 2023, when Brookfield police were contacted about concerns about his interactions with the victim.

As part of the plea deal, Pirkey has agreed to forfeit a cell phone, a tablet and several electronic storage devices seized by police during the investigation.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 14, 2025. The sexual exploitation of a child charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years and a maximum of 30 years in prison.

The FBI, Brookfield Police Department and the Linn County Sheriff’s Office conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nathan Chapman is handling the prosecution.
