Nashville man accused of selling child pornography online

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A Nashville man has been arrested after an investigation revealed he had been trafficking and selling child pornography on social media.

Jamar McGavock, 27, was arrested Tuesday by Metro Nashville police after the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force received a tip about his Instagram account in July 2024.

The tip included several conversations with one of McGavock’s accounts in which he had offered child sexual abuse material (CSAM) for sale to other users, according to court documents.

Researchers found that the accounts’ display and usernames used slang terms and acronyms commonly used by CSAM distributors to identify themselves.

The ICAC unit obtained a search warrant for the account and discovered files and chats discussing the sale and trafficking of child pornography. Agents tracked the IP address used by the accounts to a home in Nashville.

Investigators believe McGavock was the owner of two accounts through which child sexual abuse material was distributed, a phone number registered to the accounts and a Cashapp account where payments for the material were received.

McGavock was arrested and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. He is being held at Metro Jail on a $25,000 bond.
