Major prostitution fraud busted in Thane, 15 Thai women rescued

Mumbai, Oct 2 (UNI) Thane Police have busted a major prostitution racket in Ulhasnagar town in neighboring Thane district and rescued 15 foreign women (all residents of Bangkok, Thailand) who were allegedly lured to India with false promises of lucrative activities. jobs and were allegedly forced into prostitution, an official said here on Wednesday.

After receiving the confidential information, a team of the anti-extortion cell of neighboring Thane police raided Sitara Lodge in Ulhasnagar and rescued the women and arrested four people, including the lodge’s manager, and booked them on charges of human trafficking . and related crimes, police said.

Police stated that the victims were subjected to forced labor and sexual exploitation.

During the raid, authorities seized Rs 5.27 lakh in cash along with other incriminating evidence, sources said.
