Lewiston man convicted of child pornography and sexual exploitation

PORTLAND (WGME) – A Lewiston man will spend decades behind bars after admitting to sexually exploiting a child and possessing child pornography.

A judge on Tuesday sentenced 29-year-old Timothy Doyon to 35 years in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $103,500 in restitution.

Doyon pleaded guilty in October 2023 to sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child sexual abuse material.

At Doyon’s sentencing, the judge said: “This crime is one of the worst I have ever seen.”

According to court records, in March 2023, Maine State Police received multiple tips that a phone number had been used to upload more than 400 files containing suspected child sexual abuse material to cloud-based storage.

Investigation revealed that the phone number belonged to Doyon, a registered sex offender from Maine with a prior state conviction for possession of sexually explicit material of a minor under 12 years of age.

In May 2023, investigators searched Doyon’s person, vehicle and home. Authorities say they seized multiple electronic devices, including cell phones and digital storage devices.

Doyon also reportedly admitted to downloading, viewing and storing child sexual abuse material.

Authorities say at least one image shows Doyon engaging in sexually explicit conduct with a child under the age of 12.

“This case was one of the most heartbreaking and emotionally challenging cases our special agents have worked on. Today’s significant verdict reflects the absolute cruelty and horror that Doyon inflicted on a child. We hope that the conclusion of this case and knowing that he will spend many, many years in federal prison can bring some peace to all those he victimized,” said Special Agent in Charge Michael J. Krol of Homeland Security Investigations in New England.
