Hawks arrest suspected human trafficker in Western Cape

The Hawks in the Western Cape have arrested one person at a house in Kraaifontein, suspected of being involved in human trafficking.

Hawks spokesperson Zinzi Hani says the suspect has been under investigation since earlier this year on suspicion of trafficking another victim from Nigeria for sexual exploitation.

Hani says a preliminary investigation has revealed that four possible victims in the house are not being trafficked, but are in South Africa illegally.

All five people will appear in Kuilsriver District Court tomorrow charged with breaching the Immigration Act.

The alleged human trafficker will be charged again with human trafficking.
