Trump says he will revoke temporary protected status for Haitian migrants in Springfield if elected

CLEVELAND — Former President Donald Trump has vowed to revoke a U.S. government status that allows Haitian immigrants to live and work legally in Springfield, Ohio, and send them back to their home country if he is elected in November.

At a fundraiser in Texas this week, Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, said he would revoke temporary protected status for Haitian migrants in Springfield.

He said he would use local law enforcement to carry out mass deportations and deploy military forces to fight drug cartels.

“It has nothing to do with Haiti or anything else. You have to remove the people and return them to their own country,” he said in an interview with a NewsNation reporter.
