Diddy, now Russ Simmons and Black Moguls are having a bad month

To keep it at 1000 percent, the black moguls are having their worst October ever – and it’s probably not going to get any better. On Tuesday, attorney Tony Buzbee (Buzbee Law Firm) joined AVA Law Group at a press conference to say that 120 people came forward with claims of rape, sexual exploitation and assault against Sean “Diddy” Combs in a new lawsuit.

This is evident from court records Russell Simmons did that failed to pay previously agreed upon settlements to three different women. Variety reported that Simmons owes a total of $3 million to: journalist Sil Lai Abrams, Wendy Carolina Franco and Sherri Abernathy.

The confessions of judgment were filed Wednesday (October 2) in New York County Superior Court. The documents were part of secret settlement agreements the women reached with Simmons last year.

Part of the settlement calls for Simmons to pay “for plaintiff’s alleged personal, physical injuries and illness” by October 1. If the mogul defaults on any of the payments, the plaintiffs will be entitled to an expedited remedy to obtain judgments in New York state court. to collect their money.

Simmons agreed to pay $1,265,000 to both Abrams and Abernathy, respectively. Franco would also receive $515,000 under the terms of the settlement. The documents do not clearly explain why the settlements were reached in the first place – as Simmons admitted no wrongdoing – although Abrams has said that Simmons raped her in 1994.

Over the past decade, nearly two dozen women have accused Simmons of sexual assault. The most recent accusation came last February from a Jane Doe who said Simmons raped her in the late 1990s. He now resides in Bali.

Simmons rose to fame and fortune when he co-founded the Def Jam label with producer Rick Rubin in 1984. His empire would eventually expand into fashion, financial services, reality television and film. In 1992, Simmons launched his clothing line Phat Farm.

His now ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons expanded the line with Baby Phat. Russell also launched a financial venture with both the RushCard and the Baby Phat RushCard. Other endeavors include Def Poetry Jam (HBO poetry slam series) and appearances on the MTV reality television series “Run’s House.”

In 2020, Abrams appeared in the documentary ‘On the Record’ which features prominent black women former director of Def Jam Drew Dixon – shared their harrowing experiences in the music industry and accused Simmons of sexual misconduct.

Last year, the star stated in an interview that even though he was in “compromising situations,” he had never done anything wrong. “I took nine lie detector tests, people don’t know that,” says Simmons declared on “Expanded with Graham Bensinger.”

“Nine separate – seven from the president of the Polygraph Association. One for each and serious accusation… some people say they are not accurate, but it is 94% accurate.”

Simmons has recently suffered a setback after a visit to Bali from old friend Taraji P. Henson.
