Latham woman gets 15 years in prison for taking explicit photos of a child

A Latham woman was sentenced Thursday to 15 years in prison for taking sexually explicit photos of a child.

Kristy Koldis, 46, had pleaded guilty in June to sexual exploitation of a child. She admitted in federal court that she took and sent the photos over a four-year period, beginning when the child was nine and ending when the child was thirteen.

Koldis worked as a school counselor. She started at Albany High School in 2003 and worked at Myers Middle School in 2018.

The photos did not relate to her work at the school.

She also faces 15 years of post-release supervision, a $55,000 fine and $5,000 in restitution.

Koldis distributed the photos to her boyfriend Joshua White, who pleaded guilty in December.

White, who was involved in local youth sports, is expected to be sentenced on December 12, 2024.
