How ultras put pressure on Inter and AC Milan to sell drinks at San Siro

Anti-mafia prosecutors have arrested nineteen leading members of the Curva Nord and the Curva Sud.

Prosecutors allege that the ultras engaged in this criminal activities around the match days of Inter and Milan.

In addition, there are allegations that the two clubs facilitated these activities.

Not by deliberate action. But the ultra groups have used pressure techniques to ensure, if not cooperation, then at least passivity on the part of the clubs.

And the Corriere della Sera has highlighted one incident in particular on the side of the ultras of Inter and Milan.

How Ultras pressured Inter and AC Milan to allow drinks sales

According to the Corriere della Sera, members of the Curva Nord and the Curva Sud had carried out a plan in 2021 to resell drinks at the San Siro for a profit.

As part of this, the ultras would be in front of drink vendors in the stadium.

They would deny match visitors access to purchase drinks.

And according to Corriere della Sera, sellers were instructed not to resist these tactics for security reasons.

And according to Corriere della Sera, things came to a head when ultras leaders organized meetings with vendors at the San Siro.

These meetings resulted in an agreement. The ultras would receive coupons that would allow them to purchase 500 drinks for a price of 1500, or 3 per drink.

The ultras would then resell these drinks to match fans for a price of 5 each, pocketing the profits.

This episode illustrates the influence the Nord and Sud ultras have had on San Siro match days.

The pressure exerted by the ultra groups has been so great that the clubs have not been able to resist it effectively.
