Sexual assault case against ex-Collingwood politician postponed until November

Tim McNabb faces two counts of sexual exploitation, three counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference

Court proceedings following multiple sexual assault charges against a former Collingwood councilor have been postponed for two months following a technical error by the Crown.


Tim McNabb, 58, a Collingwood councilor and former deputy mayor in the 1990s and early 2000s, faces two charges of sexual exploitation, three charges of sexual assault and two charges of sexual interference in court.

Collingwood OPP confirmed the charge was laid on June 4.

McNabb’s case was before Judge Michelle Fuerst today for pre-trial proceedings, but Lynn Shirreffs, the Crown attorney on the case, admitted a technical error caused the Crown’s court filings to remain blank and not uploaded in time so that the judge could read them. .

Criminal defense attorney Edmund Chan confirmed he has been retained to represent McNabb in court.

Judge Fuerst adjourned the case until November 26.

Details of McNabb’s lawsuit are under a publication ban, and none of the charges have been proven in court.

McNabb spent 16 years on Collingwood council, 10 years as a councilor between 1991 and 1997 and 2006 and 2010, and six years as deputy mayor between 1997 and 2003.
