Boone County investigators claim ‘substantial evidence’ of years of child sexual abuse

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office said Friday that investigators had found “substantial corroborating evidence” that a 72-year-old man had sexually abused a girl for years.

Officers arrested David E. Lee, 72, of Columbia, on suspicion of possession of child pornography, statutory sodomy, statutory rape and sexual exploitation of a child, the sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post.

The investigation began last month after the sheriff’s office received a complaint about a man who had sexually abused a girl for years, starting when she was 7 years old, the post said. The post provided no further details about the allegations and said the investigation is ongoing.

Lee remained in the Boone County Jail without bond on Friday. Information about the charges against him was not available in online court filings Friday evening.
