‘Congress wants to use money obtained through drugs in elections’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday criticized the Congress for pushing the youth towards drugs and using the money earned to contest elections.

On October 2, Delhi Police had seized over 560 kilos of cocaine and 40 kilos of hydroponic marijuana worth around Rs 5,620 crore, and one of those arrested accepted that he had worked with the Congress in the past.

“Drugs worth thousands of crores of rupees were recently seized in Delhi. A Congress leader is suspected to be the kingpin. The Congress wants to contest the elections with the money it gets by pushing the youth towards drugs,” the Prime Minister said while addressing an election rally in Washim, Maharashtra.

Five people have now been arrested in the case. One Tushar Goyal, who was allegedly linked to the Congress, has been identified as the prime suspect.

The Congress, as expected, denied any link with Goyal.

However, Goyal admitted during interrogation that he was chairman of the Delhi Pradesh Congress RTI cell till 2022.

Investigating officers have also found that Goyal had listed himself as RTI cell chairman of the Delhi Pradesh Congress in his social media profile.

Reacting to the incident, Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the Modi government is working to guide the youth towards education, sports and innovation. Congress uses its political influence to enable drug trafficking.
