DNSU demands quick action against preacher accused of sexual exploitation

DIMAPUR — The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has condemned the alleged sexual abuse of minors by the senior pastor of Father’s House Church in Chümoukedima, Robert Kikon.

In a press release issued Saturday, the union said the disturbing revelations have shocked and outraged the community, “and we stand in solidarity with the victims and their families.”

“We applaud the swift action of the church council in demanding the immediate resignation of the pastor and banning him from representing the church. This decisive step demonstrates our commitment to upholding moral and ethical standards.

“DNSU supports the ongoing police investigation and urges authorities to take strict action against the suspects to ensure justice for the victims. We also appreciate the undertaking of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, to file a case or take suo moto action once sufficient evidence is collected,” the report said.

The DNSU asserted that sexual exploitation and abuse are heinous crimes that warrant zero tolerance.

Accordingly, it has made three calls: for the authorities to speed up the investigation and ensure speedy justice; for the community to provide support and protection to the victims and their families; and that individuals should refrain from inflammatory speech, allowing the law to take its course.

“DNSU is committed to creating a safe environment for everyone, especially vulnerable groups such as children and minors. We will closely monitor the situation and work with relevant stakeholders to prevent such incidents in the future,” it added.
