Former Goose Creek firefighter accused of child sexual exploitation

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCSC) – The Goose Creek Police Department has confirmed that a city firefighter has been fired after being accused of sexual exploitation involving a child.

Wayne Leonard Sammons, 40, is charged with first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, Goose Creek Police Chief LJ Roscoe said.

Sammons was arrested Wednesday, she said.

Roscoe confirmed that Sammons was employed by the Goose Creek Fire Department and was fired “on the spot” when he was arrested.

She said the investigation is ongoing, but authorities have not yet provided details about what led to the allegations.

Sammons was being held at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center. Bail had not yet been set as of Saturday morning, according to the jail’s website.
