More drugs seized in cocaine investigation, sixth suspect arrested from TN

New Delhi: Continues its ongoing offensive against the international community cocaine The Special Cell of Delhi Police has seized cocaine worth around Rs 12 crore and also nabbed a crucial member of the global drug cartel.
The breakthrough occurred during the research into Jatinder Singh Gillwho was arrested from Amritsar airport on October 3, sources revealed. Gill, also known as Jassi, was intercepted while trying to flee to Britain. His revelation led to the discovery of a Fortuner car at his uncle’s residence in Amritsar village in Nepal, which contained a consignment of cocaine. The vehicle, registered as Ravinder from Sarojini Nagar, is believed to belong to Gill’s son.
Investigations have revealed that Gill was sent by syndicate head Veeru alias Veerendra Vasoya, who is currently hiding in Dubai, to supply cocaine to prominent drug traffickers in Punjab. TOI had initially reported about his involvement in the cartels. Vasoya had earlier been arrested by DRI in 2011 in a drug-related case and had served a two-year jail term. After his release, he rejoined the syndicate and started his activities on a pan-India scale.
In February, the Pune Crime Branch had seized ‘Mephedrone’ drugs worth Rs 3,000 crore from Vasoya’s associates, and the case was subsequently transferred to the Narcotics Control Bureau in Mumbai. Meanwhile, the interrogation of the cartel’s alleged India-based leader, Tushar Goyal, revealed their close links with around a dozen drug traffickers in the Delhi-NCR region, with the intention of targeting 150 in Delhi alone in the coming months kg of cocaine.
The seized cocaine was also intended to be delivered to major drug traffickers in Punjab before New Year, while the rest would be transported to Mumbai, where major concerts will take place. The Special Cell has also arrested Safi, another suspect, in Tamil Nadu and has been remanded to 10 days.
