New Delhi: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan Police two trainee sub-inspectors arrested Dinesh Ram And Prijanka Kumari Sunday in connection with the leak of the 2021 Police Sub-Inspector (SI) exam paper. According to police, the siblings were said to have received the pre-exam question paper through a contact made by their father while he was in jail in Jodhpur.

SOG ADGP VK Singh said trainee SIs Priyanka Kumari (28) and her brother Dinesh Ram (27), both residents of Jalore, were arrested after a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation. So far, 44 trainee SIs have been arrested in this case.

SOG’s additional SP Ram Singh said Priyanka and Dinesh’s father Bhagirath is also wanted in connection with the case.

According to SOG, Bhagirath was lodged in Jodhpur Jail in 2021 and had befriended mafia king Bhupendra Saran’s brother Gopal and a drug trafficker, Om Prakash alias Fauji. Gopal and Fauji were arrested in the paper leak case earlier this year.

Rs 20 Lakh for leaked paper

Bhagirath has two NDPS cases registered against him, while Gopal was a dismissed police officer (SHO) jailed for crude oil theft. Fauji was involved in a murder and narcotics case. After the trio was released from jail, Bhagirath reportedly paid Rs 20 lakh to Gopal for the leaked exam paper.

“Priyanka’s exam center was allotted to a school on Sikar Road. On September 14, 2021, Dinesh took his sister to Gopal, who handed over the question paper to him in an SUV parked near 60 meters Road. Gopal sent the answer key for the second time. Move the exam to Dinesh’s mobile, allowing Priyanka to secure the 132nd rank,” Ram Singh told TOI.

Dinesh secured 99th rank and Priyanka secured 132nd rank in the exam.

“We have arrested Dinesh for helping Priyanka get the leaked question paper. Dinesh is also being investigated whether he himself passed the exam with the help of leaked material,” Singh said.

Meanwhile, after the state government formed a six-member ministerial committee to investigate the extent of the paper leak for the 2021 SI recruitment exam and decide whether the exam should be canceled. This comes after a letter went viral on social media calling on the government not to cancel the exam.

Similar letters on the letterheads of various caste units, including Vipra Sena and the International Jat Parliament, were uploaded on social media, stating that there were 859 SIs in training, and that cancellation of the exam due to the arrest of 42 of them would be unfair.

The SOG also conducted searches at several places to arrest Bhagirath, who is absconding.
