One of the heads of the family

During Diddy’s ongoing legal troubles, renowned DJ and rapper Lord Jamar made controversial statements about Diddy’s involvement in a so-called “Gay Mafia”. In an interview released on The Art of Dialogue YouTube channel on October 5, 2024, the host asked Lord Jamar if he believed there was a “gay mafia” in hip-hop.

Lord Jamar responded by suggesting that certain influential figures in hip-hop are “pushing the buttons.” He specifically mentioned Diddy, often referred to as “Puffy,” and claimed:
“This is part of it. You just saw one of the gay mafia members. That’s who he is, that’s who Puffy is. He is one of the members of the mafia. He is a member of the mafia. But he may not be the Don Carl, he’s not the godfather. He is one of the heads of the family.”

He further brought up Diddy’s liquor brands, DeLeón Tequila and Ciroc Vodka, saying:
“Some say he got a little too big for his britches and when he finally sued the DeLeón liquor company, things started to go downhill for him.”

The interview on The Art of Dialogue was posted about 20 days after Diddy, also known as Sean Combs, was arrested in New York following a grand jury indictment. Reports indicate that the rapper was charged with sex trafficking, extortion and fraud.

Lord Jamar’s comments about Diddy and his arrest shocked many, but he didn’t stop there. He also speculated that Jay-Z could be the next to come under public scrutiny.

When asked how he felt when people said, “Jay-Z is next,” Jamar responded, “You know, I will say that when things were going so bad for him, Jay-Z was quieter about it. But if we’re being real with ourselves, it was quite abnormal when he got together with Beyoncé. She was quite young when he came to her.

Additionally, Lord Jamar’s comments about Diddy being involved in a “gay mafia” led some social media users to recall Kim Porter’s memoir. In it, Porter reportedly recounted incidents involving Diddy being a child sexual abuser. For context, Kim Porter shared four children with Sean “Diddy” Combs. According to Billboard, Porter allegedly stored her accounts on a flash drive, which she entrusted to friends before her death in 2018.
