Key figures from Inter and AC Milan speak to prosecutors about ultras

Players, coaches and club directors from Inter Milan and AC Milan will speak to prosecutors about their relationship with the clubs’ ultras.

This is evident from today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They name Simone Inzaghi, Javier Zanetti, Davide Calabria and possibly Milan Skriniar as those who will testify.

In the past week a major scandal has broken out surrounding the ultras of Inter and AC Milan.

Nerazzurri make ultras of the Curva North and their Rossoneri counterparts, the Curva Sud, have been the subject of an investigation by anti-mafia prosecutors in Italy.

Prosecutors have made 19 arrests so far in their investigation. They allege illegal activities around match days and links with the mafia.

The most high-profile arrest of an Inter ultra was Nord leader Marco Ferdico.

Meanwhile, Luca Lucci, leader of the Milan ultras, was also among the nineteen arrested.

Now prosecutors are conducting their investigation.

The prosecutors are targeting anyone who has had notable contact with the ultras under investigation.

Key Inter and AC Milan figures are questioned in Ultras research

Prosecutors are trying to determine how the Nord and the Sud have embedded themselves at an institutional level in Inter and Milan respectively.

Part of that comes down to the relationship the ultras have had with figures at the club.

In the case of Inter, Gazzetta reports that prosecutors will question both coach Simone Inzaghi and vice president Javier Zanetti.

Ultras with the Nord have reportedly asked Inzaghi for extra tickets for the 2023 Champions League final.

Meanwhile, Milan Skriniar could also be in doubt, according to the Gazzetta note.

The Slovak will be away on international duty during the break. That’s why it can be difficult for researchers to sit down with him.

But prosecutors are reportedly eager to speak Skriniar about his meeting with ultras leader Ferdico in a bar in Milan in the winter of 2023.

The Nord published a statement about Skriniar’s decision to leave Inter and join Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer after that conversation.

Meanwhile, Gazzetta reports, prosecutors will also speak to AC Milan captain Davide Calabria.

Just like with Inzaghi, this concerns the ultras who would ask for extra tickets for matches.
