My son is not a monster, says Diddy’s mother

The mother of Sean “Diddy” Combs has said she is “devastated and deeply saddened” by the allegations against her son, but that they are “lies.”

The musician, known for hits such as 1997’s I’ll Be Missing You, was arrested last month on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. He is currently being held in a Manhattan detention center after being denied bail.

In a statement, Janice Small Combs defended her son, saying that while he had “made mistakes in the past, as we all have,” he is “not the monster they made him out to be.”

“It is heartbreaking to see my son not being judged based on the truth, but based on a story made up of lies,” she wrote.

The statement was attributed to Mrs. Small Combs and the Combs family, and was issued by her attorney, Natlie G Figgers.

It came five days after it emerged that Mr. Combs could face lawsuits from more than a hundred additional accusers, both men and women, alleging sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation.

The star’s lawyer has denied this and all previous allegations, calling them “false and defamatory.”

He has been dealing with a number of cases since last year, when his former partner Cassie Ventura accused him of rape and assault.

Mr. Combs denied the allegations and the case was settled out of court a day after filing.

However, he was subsequently sued by twelve other women, many of whom accused the rapper of drugging and assaulting them.

Federal agents raided his property in March as authorities launched a criminal case against the star.

Then, in May, a video of Mr. Combs physically assaulting Ms. Ventura in a hotel room in 2016 was leaked to the press.

In her statement, Ms. Small Combs referred to the video and said she was “not here to portray my son as perfect, because he is not.”

“My son may not have been entirely honest about certain things, such as denying that he had ever been violent with an ex-girlfriend when hotel surveillance showed otherwise,” she said.

“Sometimes the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit part of the story, especially if that truth is outside the norm or too complicated to believe.

“This is why I believe my son’s civil law team chose to settle the ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit rather than fight it to the end, which resulted in a backlash when the federal government decision against my son by interpreting it as an admission of guilt.”

Mr Combs had previously apologized for the incident which was caught on film, saying: “I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I was disgusted at the time when I did it. I’m disgusted now.”

Concluding her statement, Janice Small Combs argued that one lie did not make him guilty of all the other “abhorrent allegations and the serious allegations made against him.”

“It is truly painful to watch the world so quickly and easily turn on my son because of lies and misconceptions, without ever hearing his side or giving him the opportunity to present his side,” she said, adding that she believed some of his accusers were. motivated by money.

Combs is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, October 9, where his attorneys will argue for his release on bail.

He was previously denied bail after prosecutors argued he posed “a significant risk” to the upcoming trial.

They told a New York judge that Mr. Combs “had already attempted to obstruct the government’s investigation into this case by repeatedly contacting victims and witnesses and feeding them false stories about the events.”
