Husband of jailed Warren woman pleads guilty to possession of child pornography – Macomb Daily

The husband of a Waren woman serving 20 years in federal prison for recording sexually explicit videos of herself with two young children has admitted to possessing child pornography.

Ryan Dunbar, 32, who has lived in Macomb County, pleaded guilty late last month in U.S. District Court in Detroit to an additional count of possession of child pornography for possessing five photographs of a “lascivious display” of a child’s genitals under 18 years old. 12 years old on his cell phone between July and December 2022, according to the settlement.

Dunbar faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 30 by Judge Matthew Leitman. He remains free based on a personal bond.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office is recommending a sentence no higher than the high end of the sentencing guidelines, which will be determined by the judge, according to documents. Federal attorneys credited Dunbar with taking responsibility for his actions.

The additional charge is less serious than the original charge of receipt of child pornography, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison.

As part of his sentencing, he will be placed on the state and federal sex offender registry for at least 20 years, according to court documents. He will also have to serve at least five years of supervised release.

He also agreed to give up two cellphones and could be fined up to $250,000.

Dunbar’s wife, Amber, 28, is serving 20 years in prison following her conviction a year ago by U.S. District Judge George Caram Steeh for filming herself in sexually explicit videos with an infant and another young child and sharing them online. She pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of children and distribution of child pornography.

She sent some of her photos to her husband. The couple reportedly discussed sexual acts between them, although Ryan Dunbar said he went with her and has no sexual interest in children.

Amber Dunbar was indicted in late 2022 after attempting to sell child porn videos to a Tennessee resident who was also under investigation.

Ryan Dunbar was a special education student at Neil Reid High School in Clinton Township, where he dropped out in the 11th grade, receives Supplemental Security Income for his disability, autism spectrum disorder, and has received psychiatric services including psychotherapy in Macomb County.
