Vermont business magazine The District Attorney’s Office announced that Joseph Weintraub, 69, of Enosburg, Vermont, was charged today with 10 felony counts of possessing child sexual abuse material. The charges against Mr. Weintraub are the result of a criminal investigation, including the execution of search warrants, conducted by the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC), which also included personnel from the Office of the Attorney General, Homeland Security Investigations, belonged. and the Vermont State Police.

The investigation was initiated when the VT-ICAC Task Force received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (“NCMEC”). The tip was reported by Yahoo after an individual uploaded images of child sexual abuse material from an electronic device to Yahoo’s servers. Based on the criminal investigation of that tip, Mr. Weintraub was identified as the owner of the account to which the images were uploaded, and a subsequent search warrant revealed that Mr. Weintraub was actively in possession of child sexual abuse material.

Mr. Weintraub pleaded not guilty today during his arraignment in the Vermont Superior Court, Franklin Unit, Criminal Division. The Court, presided over by Judge Allison Arms, ordered conditions of release limiting Mr. Weintraub’s access to minors and the Internet.
