Texans Bills: Screams and sighs after Buffalo loses at Houston

The Buffalo Bills have more to G(mess with) than just Scream! after their disappointing 23-20 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday.

While there was a nice moment when rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman had the longest touchdown catch (49 yards) of his five-game career, and Josh Allen tied Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes for the most touchdowns, 231, in the first seven seasons of a player’s career, there wasn’t much else to celebrate for Bills Mafia. The Allen-to-Coleman connection was the longest fourth-down play for Buffalo since JP Losman and Lee Evans connected for 52 yards in 2006.

Tyler Bass was perfect, so maybe he’s back on track, and Allen still hasn’t had an interception this season — though he didn’t throw many completions on Sunday either, which is where the grumbling comes in.

Josh Allen completed just nine passes in Houston. Nine. Out of 30 attempts. That’s a feat never before seen by an NFL quarterback in Allen’s lifetime. The last time a quarterback had a day as bad as Allen’s was 1992. In fact, there have only been about a dozen stat lines like the one Allen put up on Sunday.

In other stats of the “this hasn’t been done in forever” variety, the Bills are the first team in 45 years to be tied (or in the lead) in the final minute of a game and have the ball inside their own five-yard line. and make the decision to make three consecutive passes. Since the year 2000, the scenario has happened 84 times and not once has anyone made the decision that Joe Brady made. Not once.

That’s it. That’s all we have Scream!out G(Rumblings) this week. Definitely not the record books we want the Bills to rewrite.
