Context & Mission

Doctors Without Borders is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion , faith or political opinion. The Doctors Without Borders movement is built around five operational centers, supported by 24 departments and offices around the world. The MSF Geneva Operational Center (MSF OCG) is one of these centers.

MSF OCG employs approximately 450 staff at its headquarters, mainly in Geneva, with teams in Zurich, Dakar and Amman, and a further 6,000 internationally mobile staff in 30 countries around the world, working on 110 of our humanitarian projects .

MSF, including OCG, has grown significantly over the past decade and until now the HR department has managed that expansion using ad hoc tools and methods.

To better support ongoing demand and better serve our global workforce, OCG has launched a transformative HR initiative, with a critical pillar being the introduction of an HR Information System (HRIS).

The IT Data Analyst will be part of a dynamic team of HR professionals and will analyze the current state and define the future data structure and flow required to support the data migration activities and the implementation of HRIS integration. They will produce deliverables based on Data by the Data architect guidelines and methodology. The incumbent will collaborate with IT business analysts, functional referees, HR SMEs, data migration specialists and the integration team to produce relevant artifacts and deliver a robust data migration process and the integration between the HRIS component and peripheral systems. The HR Data Analyst reports to the Data Lead and IT Project Manager.

Responsibilities

As an HR Data Analyst, your role is crucial in optimizing our HR data infrastructure to support the delivery of end-to-end HRIS solutions, including the implementation of a new HR solution (Workday) packed with HR data ( current and historical), incoming and outgoing integrations.

You will:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and document data requirements and priorities
  • Contribute to the production of data quality standards in our HRIS, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance
  • Define the integration flow of data between the relevant systems to ensure data consistency and accuracy
  • Cultivate collaborative relationships with IT business analysts, application managers, and functional referents to align data with business processes
  • Identify data requirements and workflows for effective HRIS implementation
  • Design our HR data flows, data mapping and conversion rules for data migration
  • Extract source data, develop conversion scripts and reconciliation scripts, and continuously improve them throughout the entire delivery lifecycle
  • Analyze data quality in the context of data migration and system integration, recognize patterns and make recommendations to the team
  • You will work closely with the Data Protection Officer to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Check the quality of the data team’s results (e.g. peer review) and test the data output generated by data migration scripts and system integration tools
  • Support and participate in the program’s testing activities
  • Submit deliverables for review and feedback by the Data Architect. Integrate feedback

Your profile

Experience

  • Proven track record in data modeling and analysis, ideally in HR and in an international environment
  • Experience with data migration, integration and reporting
  • Experience developing data migration scripts (extraction, conversion, reconciliation, cleansing)
  • Contributed to an end-to-end view of data integrity between different applications in a given landscape (ideally HR data integrated with Active Directory, payroll and other consumers of HR data)

Languages

  • English and French are the working languages ​​of Doctors Without Borders Switzerland. This position requires fluency in both English and French (oral and written).

  • Proficiency with data management tools, with the ability to implement them effectively in a context with low data maturity.
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams on strategic projects, providing a data-centric perspective: data catalog, data cleansing, data migration.
  • Strong communication skills and active collaboration to design the desired data flow and structure.
  • Ability to collaborate with IT, HR, legal and compliance teams to ensure data security.
  • Experience as a data analyst is required, with experience with HR projects being a plus
  • Familiar with requirements and knowledge management tools such as Jira, Microsoft Sharepoint, Visio

Employment conditions

  • Vacancy for 2 positions
  • Full-time position 100% (40 hours/week)
  • Fixed-term contract, 18 months
  • Workshop: Geneva, Switzerland
  • Ideal start date: January 6, 2025
  • Gross annual salary (for 100%): from CHF 93,504 to CHF 107,280 (salary in accordance with equivalent experience and internal salary schedule)
  • Paid vacation: 25 days per year, pro rata temporis, plus any Swiss public holidays falling within the contract period.
  • Pension plan: pension contribution covered 3/4 by Doctors Without Borders, 1/4 by the employee.
  • Relocation package if you move to Switzerland from another country.
