PRF focuses on sexual exploitation of children in nightclubs at the border

Federal Highway Police action on BR-277 took place between Foz do Iguaçu and Cascavel.

The sexual exploitation of children and adolescents constitutes a “heinous crime” under Law No. 12,978/2014, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Paraná (MPPR). To curb and prevent this illegal and perverse practice, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) conducted an operation in the border area in the early hours of Saturday the 26th.

The approach took place on BR-277, between the towns of Foz do Iguaçu and Cascavel. During the operation, two nightclubs were inspected, one in the Cascavel region and one in Medianeira, both on the side of the federal highway. “During the inspection of the first nightclub, a 17-year-old teenager was found consuming alcoholic beverages,” the PRF reported.

According to the company’s press service, the owner has a criminal record, including for sexual exploitation of children and the sale of alcoholic beverages to minors. The man was referred to the Civil Police, who will take legal action.

Once at the Medianeira location, the establishment’s security guard “illegally carried a firearm and was taken to the Medianeira Civil Police.” It is up to the state police to draw up a report for illegal firearms possession, according to the press office of the Federal Traffic Police.
