BJP should not try tricks, says Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: As counting of votes for the Jammu and Kashmir elections began, National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah on Tuesday warned the BJP not to play tricks when the people’s mandate is against them.

He also exuded confidence in the victory of the NC-Congress alliance in the elections.

“We are hopeful that we will win. The decision has been taken by the voters of Jammu and Kashmir and we will find out about it today afternoon,” Omar Abdullah told reporters here.

“There must be transparency. If the mandate of the people is against the BJP, they should not play any tricks,” he added.

He said his party had forged an alliance with Congress to win the elections. Jammu and Kashmir witnessed the elections after a gap of ten years. However, Omar Abdullah said it is too early to say whether they will need support from parties like the PDP.

“We have not asked for any support from them, nor have we received any support… bring on the results. I am not sure why we are so restless, bring on the results, at the moment no one has the number. .. at the moment we are I don’t need their support. Once the result is known, we will analyze,” he said.

The National Conference and the Jammu and Kashmir Congress, partners in the INDIA alliance, jointly contested the parliamentary elections, while the PDP and the BJP fought the elections on their own.

Congress candidate from Bahu Assembly seat TS Tony said, “The Congress-NC alliance will form the government with two-third majority. Earlier, people used to rely only on statements. Now all lies are being exposed… People now know everything. This was the city of temples. The BJP has made it the city of liquor. They say it is to generate revenue… People are frustrated with the liquor and land mafia… They don’t trust the public. they no longer…BJP is killing democracy. The appointment of five MLAs had to be done by the elected government.Even the President does not have this power of direct appointment.

The JK elections for 90 constituencies were held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1.
