IACAT, OPG and OSG sign MOA for Legal Task Force against Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation

The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT), the Office of the Attorney General (OPG) and the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOA) for a Legal Task Force against Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation , the Department of Justice (DOJ) said on Tuesday.

According to the DOJ, the MOA was signed by IACAT Undersecretary-in-Charge Nicky Ty, Assistant Attorney General Thomas Laragan and OIC Attorney General Richard Fadullon.

“This ceremonial signing of the MOA from the OPG, OSG and the IACAT symbolizes the continued coordination and cooperation between and among these agencies that is necessary in the fight against human trafficking,” Fadullon said in a statement.

Under the MOA, the IACAT-OPG-OSG Legal Task Force aims to strengthen the government’s response to human trafficking (TIP), online child sexual abuse or exploitation (OSAEC) and child sexual abuse or exploitation material (CSAEM). fallen.

The DOJ said the MOA will benefit employees and public officials in protecting victims of abuse and investigating their perpetrators.

“We continue to deal with emerging trends in human trafficking and increasing cases of OSAEC due to the vulnerabilities we face as a nation. With this, the DOJ is committed to combating this problem,” Ty said.

The DOJ said it led the alliance with the support of the International Justice Mission (IJM).

Samson Inocencio Jr., national director of IJM, said the agreement demonstrates the government’s commitment to combating human trafficking.
