NFL Week 6 Opening Odds: Buffalo Bills road favorite over New York Jets

The Buffalo Bills enter Week 6 in the midst of a slump, having lost their last two games to Super Bowl hopeful AFC teams. At 3-2 and looking for answers to turn things around, the Bills end their three-week road stand against the New York Jets for Monday Night Football.

Despite losing their last two games on the road, FanDuel Sportsbook sees the Buffalo Bills opening as 2.5-point favorites (-2.5) over the Jets. At the time of publication, the over/under was set at 41.5 points, and the moneyline is -142 for the Bills and +120 for the Jets. Both teams are reeling, but perhaps no team is in the midst of more turmoil than the Aaron Rodgers-led Jets, whose owner just fired head coach Robert Saleh on Tuesday morning.

While Saleh’s defensive savvy proved unable to turn around a historically moribund franchise, relieving him of his duties hardly changes the elephant in the room: Rodgers just isn’t that good anymore, and offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett is proving once again that he is. above his head. Bills Mafia is all too familiar with Hackett, who was the offensive coordinator in Buffalo during head coach Doug Marrone’s tenure.

As for the Bills, starting the last two games in multi-touchdown holes against elite AFC teams did them no favors. Now they will have to play catch-up in hopes of finishing with a better record than both the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans. If they failed to do so, they would relinquish the higher seeding in the playoffs, which currently leaves the Bills in fourth place as the lowest division team.

Head coach Sean McDermott must find the right solutions quickly or risk the team falling further behind the AFC’s best players. Will the Jets get a boost from Saleh’s firing and claim first place in the division, or will the Bills finally get back on track and gain a firm grip on the AFC East?
