Rapper FBG Duck’s mother is suing King Von’s estate Lil Durk over his son’s brutal Gold Coast murder

The mother of rapper FBG Duck filed an explosive lawsuit on Wednesday implicating rap superstar Lil Durk and his slain protege King Von in the gang-related murder of her son in the Gold Coast.

FBG Duck, whose real name is Carlton Weekly, was shot by a group of masked men in August 2020 as he waited to enter the Dolce & Gabbana store. His girlfriend, Cashae Williams, and another man, Davon Brinson, were also injured. the attack and named as plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

The list of defendants is broad and includes: Derrick “Lil Durk” Banks and the estate of Dayvon “King Von” Bennett; their high-profile record labels; the city of Chicago; Dolce & Gabbana; two private security companies; and the six members and associates of the O Block faction of the Black Disciples who were convicted of Duck’s murder earlier this year.

Duck’s mother, Lasheena Weekly, was expected to announce the lawsuit Wednesday at the downtown office of the Dinizulu Law Group, which is filing the case.

Duck’s murder stemmed from a bitter feud between O Block and Duck’s Tookaville faction of the Gangster Disciples, which was memorialized in a series of violent rap songs, including scathing disses between Duck and Von.

Although Von was fatally shot in Atlanta long before the three-month O Block trial began last November, he was identified as the gang’s leader and accused of placing a bounty on Duck’s head.

The lawsuit filed in Cook County District Court, based largely on evidence uncovered at trial, alleges that Durk’s record label Only The Family, or OTF, was itself a criminal enterprise. The label, which had Von as a signatory, has had contracts with media giant Sony and other larger labels, which reportedly welcomed artists who engaged in criminal activities.

Durk and the labels knew Von “had a vendetta against FBG Duck … and consistently sought to build a brand of violence and reality rap based on committing real acts of violence against FBG Duck and the general public,” the lawsuit said. .

“They understood that reality rap, violence, controversy, beefs and notoriety were good for driving more record sales, streams and views, building a brand and capitalizing on a violent image,” the complaint said.

OTF emerged from a “collective of gangs” on the South Side of Chicago and “serves as a hub for the criminal enterprise and street gang O Block,” according to the lawsuit. Durk and Von, identified in the lawsuit as “high-ranking members of various groups of the Black Disciples gang,” are known for “waging a battle of diss tracks.”

The lawsuit further alleges that Dolce & Gabbana failed to provide adequate security, that a security guard left his post at the store, and that Chicago police officers failed to provide immediate care to Duck after he was shot. He continued to bleed for 17 minutes before emergency medical services reached him, according to the complaint.

In August 2020, Duck was shopping for a gift for his son on August 4, 2020, when he was spotted by an O Block employee who notified gang members of Duck’s location and spoke to someone on a phone related with Durk’s brother.

Duck was standing outside Dolce & Gabbana, while Williams waited in a nearby car, when two vehicles pulled up and gunmen jumped out. Weekly was shot sixteen times and Wiliams and Brinson were also injured.

Von had previously shot a scene in which he killed a man named ‘Duck’ in the video for his song ‘Took Her to the O’, which was released about six months before his rival was murdered. The video has since been viewed 288 million times on YouTube.

“As a result (of the murder), Lil Durk, O Block and (and) OTF became international brands through social media and music streaming platforms and profited through podcasts, social media and music streaming,” the lawsuit said. “Essentially they made money off the murder of FBG Duck.”

“Knowing that they won’t do that to another family gives me peace of mind,” said Duck’s mother, LaSheena Weekly, who insisted the verdict marked the demise of the O Block faction that was at war with her son’s gang.
