Gang wars, drugs, violence and Mexican cartels in Texas: a call to action as Election Day approaches

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — As Texas prepares for another crucial election, one issue stands out: the rapid rise of gang violence, especially in Houston, where the presence of criminal organizations and Mexican drug cartels has reached alarming levels.

As the state’s population becomes increasingly diverse, the number of gangs has increased, creating a landscape where even ordinary citizens can cross paths with gang-affiliated individuals.

The upcoming election offers Texans an opportunity to reconsider the policies that have contributed to this crisis, especially those championed by progressive leaders who support open borders and loose bail reforms.

The evolution of gang culture in Texas

The rise of gang culture in Texas has been a steady progression. Prominent gangs such as West Tango Blast have emerged as the fastest growing and most dangerous entities in the state.

However, many other gangs operate beneath the surface and pose a significant threat to public safety. Groups like Puro Tango Blast, Barrio Azteca and the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas are deeply entrenched in drug trafficking, extortion and violent crime.

According to the latest reports, Houston has become a hotspot for gang activity. Harris County is found to have one of the highest concentrations of gangs, including the Houstone, a cabal of Tango Blast, as well as several sets of Bloods and Crips.

The infamous near Sunnyside has been labeled the most dangerous in Houston and the sixth most dangerous in America with a crime rate of 92 per 1,000 inhabitants. This statistic indicates that residents have a staggering 1 in 11 chance of being a victim of crime, with theft, assault and murder among the most common offenses.

The role of Mexican drug cartels

The situation is exacerbated by the influence of Mexican drug cartels, such as the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Sinaloa Cartel, which have a strong presence along the Texas-Mexico border and throughout the state.

A recent indictment by federal authorities exposed a large-scale polydrug operation in the Houston area linked to these cartels, resulting in the arrest of 41 individuals involved in the trafficking of cocaine, fentanyl, heroin and meth.

Attorney General Merrick B. Garland highlighted the devastation these cartels have wrought on American lives and emphasized the urgent need for effective law enforcement and border security.

A failure of progressive policies

Despite rising gang violence, many progressives continue to advocate for policies that undermine public safety.

Measures such as bail reform in Houston have been particularly controversial, allowing violent offenders to be released back into the community with little to no consequences. This The ‘catch and release’ approach has only emboldened criminalscontributing to a climate of fear and uncertainty.

Moreover, open border policy championed by progressive leaders have made it easier for gangs and cartels to operate with impunity. The influx of individuals crossing the border, often without thorough checks, creates opportunities for criminal organizations to expand their reach.

During election season, these same leaders are attempting to pivot, claiming to prioritize border security when they have previously supported policies that do the opposite.

The time to act is now

With the election just around the corner, Texans have the power to make a major change. It is critical to hold accountable those who have enabled the rise of gang violence through their misguided policies.

Elections in Texas have been decided by just 70 votes, underscoring the importance of every individual’s participation. Voters should consider the implications of their choices, especially when it comes to candidates who have proven willing to jeopardize public safety in favor of progressive ideologies.

As the stakes increase, it is essential that voters educate themselves on the issues at hand. The question is not just about who will hold office; it’s about the future safety and security of our communities. The rise of gang culture and violent crime in Texas cannot be ignored. This election is a crucial time to push back on policies that endanger lives and advocate for a return to law and order.

During this critical time, Texans must remember the importance of their vote. By voting for candidates who are committed to enforcing the law and securing our borders, citizens can take a stand against the rising tide of gang violence and crime threatening their neighborhoods. The future of Texas depends on it.
