Eastern District of Michigan | HOLLY MAN SENTENCED TO 85 YEARS FOR SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF CHILDREN

DETROIT –A Holly man was sentenced yesterday to 85 years in prison for sexually exploiting children, United States Attorney Dawn N. Ison announced today.

Ison was joined in the announcement by Cheyvoryea Gibson, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Detroit.

In addition to the 85-year sentence, U.S. District Court Judge Kay F. Behm sentenced 48-year-old Jeremy McCallum to 15 years of supervised release following his release from prison.

According to court documents, on January 31, 2020, police searched McCallum’s home for child sexual abuse material. The search resulted in the recovery of paper and digital files depicting years of horrific sexual abuse of three minor children by McCallum. McCallum abused an underage female for the better part of a decade, documenting his abuse of her on VHS tape, on his cell phone, and in Polaroid photographs. He abused another underage woman when she was an infant, recording his sexual abuse of her on VHS tape and on his cell phone. Finally, an FBI agent found on a VHS tape an instance of sexual abuse that McCallum had committed against an underage male.

After years of litigation, McCallum pleaded guilty on June 18, 2024, to all charges in the indictment, including ten counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of possession of child pornography.

“This suspect committed monstrous crimes. This prosecution and conviction should send a strong message to child predators: you will face serious consequences if you harm our children,” said U.S. Attorney Ison.

“The despicable acts of sexual exploitation, especially against children, are among the most heinous crimes investigated by our agency,” said Cheyvoryea Gibson, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI in Michigan. “The conviction of Jeremy McCallum is a direct result of the joint efforts between the Michigan State Police and the FBI, Oakland County Resident Agency. This conviction is a clear and stern warning to those who think they can target and evade our most vulnerable population. justice. The successful prosecution by the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Eastern Michigan is a critical step in the healing process for those who were victims of Mr. McCallum’s deplorable and heinous actions.”

This case was investigated by the FBI and Michigan State Police. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Christopher Rawsthorne and Tara Hindelang.
