Former actor Nathan Chasing Horse charged with child porn crimes in North Las Vegas amid cult allegations

Days after the Nevada Supreme Court dismissed an initial indictment against Nathan Chasing Horse, authorities have filed new criminal charges. The former actor has been accused of leading a cult and is now facing allegations of sexual misconduct involving minors. A report from News 3 Las Vegas states that Chasing Horse has been charged with using or permitting a minor to produce pornography and possession of pornography involving a minor.

The legal proceedings focused on the manner in which the case was presented to the grand jury, which resulted in the original case being dismissed. Chasing Horse, who faced 18 felony counts, including sexual assault of a minor and kidnapping, received relief when the Nevada Supreme Court noted clear errors in the jury process, as stated by his attorney. These errors included an incorrect definition of grooming and a failure to present conflicting evidence from the victims’ statements that could have affected the grand jury’s impartiality.

Despite the setback for the prosecution, Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson has expressed his intention to file new charges through the grand jury, according to a statement obtained by News 3 Las Vegas. Adjusted bail for Chasing Horse is now $200,000, and the case has been moved to North Las Vegas District Court, with an arraignment hearing set for Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, details about the federal case emerged, revealing its termination. The sexual exploitation and child pornography charges Chasing Horse faced federally have been dismissed, closely tied to the demise of the statewide indictment. The request to dismiss the federal case came just one day after the Supreme Court’s decision, and U.S. Magistrate Judge Brenda Weksler granted the motion last Tuesday, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Details regarding the demise of the federal case from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada were not immediately available for comment.

The case against Chasing Horse has evolved significantly since his arrest in January 2023. His home was raided by police, who discovered evidence including firearms, drugs and a cell phone with pornographic videos of a child. Multiple women have accused Chasing Horse of sexual assault, with some reporting they were filmed without their consent. One woman alleged that Chasing Horse claimed he could cure her mother’s cancer through sexual acts with him, according to statements to police detailed in court documents shared by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
