Arshad Alam groomed minors, after developing a sexual relationship with a minor, he went to do Nikah, arrested after NCPCR action

On Thursday (October 10), National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Chairman Priyank Kanoongo took to X (formerly Twitter) to inform about the action taken in a case of exploitation of six girls in a ‘ orchestra’ led by one Arshad Alam in Bihar. Kanoongo said Siwan police on the directions of NCPCR conducted raids at the location and rescued the girls.

The action in the case came after an NGO called Mission Mukti Foundation filed a complaint with NCPCR about exploitation of girls, including minors.

Speaking to Following instructions from @NCPCR_, Siwan police conducted a raid early this morning and rescued six girls.”

Kanoongo also shared a video statement of suspect Arshad Alam, detailing how he groomed and exploited an underage girl in the name of ‘love’. The Gopalganj resident said he lured a minor girl from Durgapur saying he ‘loved marriage’ with her and would now do Nikah with her.

‘Listen to Arshad’s statement: Grooming and exploiting a minor girl in the name of ‘love’ is their way of committing crime. The video has been posted with an aim to spread public awareness so that society can wake up and daughters can be saved,” the NCPCR chairman said.

It is pertinent to note that his testimony shows that Arshad Alam was grooming children. He trapped minors and claimed to have a ‘love marriage’ with them. He claims that after the ‘love marriage’, he would have taken the minor to his parents for ‘Nikah’. It appears that what Arshad calls a ‘love marriage’ is essentially entering into a sexual relationship with the minor. Essentially, after luring the minor and establishing a sexual relationship with the minor, he would kidnap them to perform ‘nikah’ with them. This would also entail conversion to Islam if the minor was a non-Muslim, and therefore would add an extra layer of hate crime to the case.
