Gainesville man arrested for sexual exploitation of a minor

A Gainesville man was arrested on Wednesday, October 9, on charges of possession and distribution of child sex abuse material.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman BJ Williams said investigators seized several electronic devices from Toby Deran Wehunt, 35, during a search of his home on Boy Scout Camp Road.

“Investigators from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Unit received several cybertips from the social media platform Discord, alerting them to suspicious activity on an account traced to Wehunt,” Williams said.

Williams added that there is no evidence that any of the children depicted in the three images in Wehunt’s possession are local victims.

Wehunt was charged with three felony counts of possession of CSAM and three counts of distribution of CSAM.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may apply.

Wehunt is in the Hall County Jail without bond.
