RTL Today – Denied bail twice: sex trafficking trial against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs scheduled for May 2025

Sean Combs, aka “Diddy,” faces a May 2025 trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges as more than a hundred people prepare to accuse the rap icon of sexual exploitation and abuse.

Music mogul Sean Combs will stand trial on May 5, 2025, on racketeering and sex trafficking charges, a judge said during a court hearing Thursday.

The rapper known as “Diddy” will remain in prison, federal Judge Arun Subramanian said, after he was indicted last month on three felony counts alleging he sexually assaulted women and forced them into drug-fueled sex parties using of threats and violence.

Combs has twice been denied bail as prosecutors have raised concerns about witness tampering. He has denied being guilty of all charges.

As he entered the courtroom, Combs, wearing a light-colored, wrinkled shirt and pants, greeted his mother and children who were attending the hearing.

Prosecutor Emily Johnson said there was still more evidence to investigate, noting that 96 electronic devices had been seized in March and more charges were possible.

Accusations against the Grammy winner have been mounting since last year, when singer Cassie, whose real name is Casandra Ventura, alleged that Combs subjected her to more than a decade of coercion through physical violence and drugs, as well as a 2018 rape .

A wave of similarly lurid civil lawsuits have since painted a picture of Combs as a violent man who used his celebrity status to prey on women.

And in a bombastic announcement, attorneys said more than a hundred people who say Combs assaulted or exploited them — including children — are planning more legal action.

The explosion of allegations against him has highlighted a culture in the music industry that many people say is enabling a broader pattern of rampant sexual misconduct.
