Ohio man faces multiple charges after sexually abusing minor in Dorchester County

An Ohio man has been arrested by the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and charged with sexual misconduct with a minor.

Rober Michael Urban III of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, is charged with criminal sexual contact with a minor victim (11 to 14 years old), criminal enticement of a minor, first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and distributing obscene material to a minor, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Monday.

According to police, Urban traveled from Ohio to Dorchester County and engaged in sexual acts with a 12-year-old girl.

According to the arrest warrant, between July 5 and July 9, Urban solicited and unlawfully communicated with a minor in order to coerce him into performing sexual acts.

During the same period, Urban also distributed obscene material to the minor, according to the arrest warrant.

The victim’s family alerted detectives, who launched an “extensive” investigation that included traveling to Ohio, police said.

In a July 13 incident report, Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office officers reported sexual assault.

According to the incident report, the victim’s parent told officers the child had been sexually abused by Urban in a field in Dorchester County.

According to the incident report, the victim met Urban through an app called “Monkey.”

When the victim’s parents went through the phone, several nude photos and videos were observed, the incident report states.

Another incident report, dated July 9, said the victim was walking the dog. However, the action took longer than usual. That was when the victim met Urban and he took the minor into the woods where they allegedly had sex, the incident report said.

When the victim rejected Urban’s advances, he dropped his pants, exposing himself to the minor, the incident report said.

Urban was booked into the LC Knight Detention Center under a $250,000 bond. The case is still considered active. The 1st Judicial Circuit Solicitors Office will prosecute the case.
